The first 2 Stages of Discipleship are inwardly focused on the individual.
Recognizing the ancient truth established on the first page of Genesis that everything will "reproduce after its own kind", we need to be diligent in producing believers who are complete and accurate in their spiritual walk and understanding so they will reproduce others who are likewise complete and accurate.
The 1st stage, The Basics of Salvation, answers the questions:
When a new believer completes this stage, they should have a good understanding of what it means to be a Christian and be able to communicate it to others.
The 2nd stage, The Foundations of the Faith, will walk the believer through 3 foundational books of the Bible, Genesis, Romans, and Acts. A cursory review of the Law will also be conducted.
In the book of Genesis, we find the basis for belief, trust, and worship of the One True God, who calls Himself YHWH*. It is here that we gain the knowledge of who our God is, what He has done, and what He requires of us.
In the book of Romans, we find Paul’s explanation of what Yeshua (Jesus) the Messiah did and why. It is the explanation of the “Messianic Amendment” to the Torah (the first 5 books of the Bible) and what that means to our understanding of salvation. Further, it defines our on-going relationship to God’s instructions (the Law) now that Messiah has come and fulfilled the Covenant.
And in Acts, we are given examples of how to live into this revelation of the Messiah as we learn how the first messianic Jewish believers wrestled with it in their lives.
The disciple who completes this stage should have a deep and lasting understanding of the foundations of the Faith. They should have a biblical understanding of what we believe, why we believe it, and how a believer is to live their lives.
